4 Teachers from Alabama- TGC Meet-Up
January 5, 2019- Check it out! In the 2018-2019 Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Cohort, there are FOUR teachers from Alabama. Right to left- me (Amber Moore), Abby Becker, Amber Dudley, and Melissa Kent. After interacting throughout our OBA online course, we wanted to meet in person before flying to Washington D.C. to meet with our big cohort of 75 teachers from around the U.S. We invited past TGC fellows to join us and had a great time at Abby's house. (Thanks, Abby, for hosting!) We decided on Birmingham because it was in the middle-ish for all of us. Over snacks in Abby's living room, we mostly talked about their field experiences as all four of us had tons of questions. They really helped put our minds at ease about the process, about traveling, and about teaching in a foreign land. Later, we went to an Ethiopian restaurant in downtown Birmingham. There we talked about our goals for Alabama in terms of global education and increasing the global competency of our state. It really was a great, encouraging experience and when we got to D.C. about a month later, we had several familiar faces to hang out with.
PS- Our shirts say "Go Somewhere! Learn Something! Alabama Teachers for Global Classrooms." They were made by my sweet friend that took my "fancy" picture in my first post, Amanda. :)
